Clerks (1994)
"I'm not even supposed to be here today!". The primal roar of the Generation X, indeed. Clerks is awesome, and I mean that in the most 90's way possible. It could be grungiest movie of all time. Just a bunch of slackers, barely making money, complaining about their insanely easy lives as convenient store clerks. A bunch of nobodies, that want to be known as somebodies, without doing any of the work. Then there's Jay and Silent Bob. Those two are magic, don't ask me why. I love how the movie wants to be taken as a serious art film, having each scene titled with big college words. Look between the aesthetic, and it's practically as sophisticated as today's Judd Apatow movies. It's a portrait of New Jersey, 90's youth culture, the VHS era, and laziness.
