War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)

War is the most emotional, visually stunning, well told and well acted film of the reboot trilogy of the Planet of the Apes. It felt like a cross between a western and a war movie. A convincing tale of survival, sacrifice and revenge. The apes are still so amazing to look at, and the character dimensions that they are given here are incredible. We even get enough comic relief from Bad Ape.. someone we all hope audiences fall in love with. War makes up for all the narrative flaws that Dawn was guilty for, though at times I thought the biblical parallels were much too heavy handed. Cesar being whipped and nailed to a cross is corny.. I'm sorry.
