The Edge of Seventeen (2016)

Firstly, this film is called "The Edge of Seventeen" and it doesn't include the Stevie Nicks song. Movie, you had one job.

Secondly, I wasn't really feeling this one. I got a real after-school special vibe from this. In comparison to recent teen masterpieces like Lady Bird and Eighth Grade, The Edge of Seventeen wrings hollow. Maybe it didn't back in 2016, but it does now. There are better films out there that highlight the painful awkwardness of adolescence, and quite frankly, more realistically so. However, much love to it's star Hailee Steinfeld. She a natural actor, and she isn't in enough movies.
